Lykins Update – November 17th 2006

Thank you for your prayers for future direction! As Carol and I were finishing up our last week interviews, I asked Jesse Reese, the base director of YWAM Salem, “What are your needs? How could you use Carol and I, what do you see us doing?”
He replied that they needed someone on staff in Salem who would be dedicated to the Crossroads DTS. (Crossroads Discipleship Training School, CDTS, is the school Carol and I just finished. It is an entry level school designed to reach adults who feel called to missions.) No one individual was on location to receive the inquiries, and promote the CDTS.
As he was speaking, it occurred to me that working with the CDTS was what I wanted to do. I have worked with three other DTS-es (Sp?) in both Russia and Haiti, and really enjoyed the opportunity to disciple others.
Howard Bruce, our school director, reminded me that when he first approached me in February of ’06 it was to staff the summer CDTS.
Also, YWAM Salem wants to start an ESL, English as a second language, program. Carol’s TESOL training last year fits into that need. In addition, we would help with the upkeep of the Salem base. So, praise God, we have our next assignment!
Now our challenge is base housing. They are currently full! So, we need to see God make a way for us in Salem. Also, our financial needs will probably increase, as our current support level was built for Haiti. So please pray for that as well!
