Lykins Update – December 12th, 2006
“Daddy Fred.
I am pleased to listen to good news about your next
way. I also thought about it. God sent you and Carol
to the right place.
I read your letter again.
I thought ‘I am not alone.’ your encouragement in
Christ is very powerful.
I read Words Jeremiah 29:11…
“For I know the plans I have for you,’declares the
LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you hope and a future.”
…and It reminded me of God’s love. Maybe I
complained too long time. It takes time to accept His
love without doubt with any circumstance.
…. I was short of faith. I worried about my
parents, my marriage, supporters..
Can you pray for me? I think I need a rest but I know
I need “willingness, hope, energy to do something”. I
have to expect How God will help me.
It is just feeling, not truth, that I feel alone and
there is nobody to help me…I am alone.
But I will choose the truth. and I can confess God is
good. I am reading Bible and praising Lord.”
Take care,
Misook
Dear Friends and Family,
Our friend Misook lives in Korea. She was here in
Salem for the summer. Carol and I “adopted” her while
she was here. A Korean woman in her 20′s is expected
to marry, have children, and if she does not, she is
dishonoring her parents.
We got to take Misook to the river, and to lunch…
mostly we just loved on her. By the time we left for
outreach, she would allow me to give her a one armed
hug. (You know “shug”, that was an accomplishment!)We
don’t know the consequences of all of our actions, but
we try to share Jesus’ love with those we
meet…especially those who are “alone” or downcast.
Life here in Salem is good. We are involved with many
activities on the base. I am the point man for people
who contact the base desiring information for the
Crossroads Discipleship Training School(CDTS). Each
year they run this school. It is the school that I
took in 1992, and Carol and I took last summer.
Anyway, since I have intimate knowledge of it, I can
answer many of the questions that are posed.
Carol is praying about being the Children of Destiny
(COD) coordinator. She would be incharge of curriculum
and teachers for the children’s program that runs
concurrently with the CDTS. Also the base is looking
to create an English as a Second Language (ESL)
school. This school would serve the many Korean
missionaries who come here, as well as any other
foreign missionaries in training. Since
Carol has the Teaching English as a Second Language
(TESOL) training, she would be a good person to fill
that need as well.
Also, I am working as a handyman fixing building
maladies.
We apreciate your love and prayers! Enjoy the
Christmas season!
Grace and peace to you,
Fred and Carol
