Lykins Update – July 25th, 2007

Dear Friends and family,

Wow, you guys pray really good! The last letter I wrote told of our outreach fees being $6,000 to go to the Philippines. Our school director told us that he was able to get some good airfares, and now the total for Carol and I together would only be $2,500. There is more than one way for God to provide for our needs!  Praise His name!

We have now passed the half way mark in the school. People keep asking us how we are holding up. We are bone-tired most nights, but His mercies are new every morning. Several years ago I asked my sister Ruth what her favorite Bible verse was. (Ruth has seven children, and when the last two were born, twins, she had 5 under the age of 5!) She told me “Hebrews 4:16, Let us then boldly approach the throne of grace and ask for more grace in our time of need.”  Ruth, I have chosen that verse for our current situation. Thank you! Truly, God has been so faithful.

Now that we are this far along, we have found some of the children to have deep wounds of rejection. One boy in particular cries easily, and has stolen some money from his family. Most of the children don’t want to play with him. Would you join us in praying for “Kenny”? I don’t want to give his real name, but God knows who I mean. We realize that he is made in the image of God, and He desires to heal this wounded spirit. We want to be facilitators of that healing. His parents know the situation well, and the Mom told us recently that if her son got healing in this area, it would be worth the cost of the whole school.

We are taking the 8-15 year olds camping August 6-8. Please cover us in prayer for this adventure too! (I’ll get you some pictures!)

Thank you for your prayers!
Grace and peace to you,
Fred and Carol
