Lykins Mission – September 8th, 2007
Greetings!
After a marathon flight, and a day of recouperation, we are leaving manila today for an orphanage a few hours from here.
Thank you so much for your prayers. We had a little adventure in San Francisco on the way down. One of our adult students, Doc, left his passport on the plane. He realized it 20 minutes later while standing in line for our next flight. Fortunately we had a 4 hour layover! He was able to pick it up and make it back to our spot in the line at China air just minutes before our last person in line finished, and the window closed. We were praying hard!
Manila is a congested city. Lots of diesel smog, business, congestion, universities,…people everywhere!
We had a prayer march yesterday around our neighborhood. Along the way, we stopped in a large church, prayed and sang a few songs. After the singing, one of the worship leaders of the church introduced himself, and we prayed with him as well. The church building was 1930′s granite. Large like a Catholic church, but it was United Church of Christ. We were glad that we were allowed to enter their sanctuary, and blessed to find a level of unity so many miles from home. The hotel we are staying in is run by the same denomination. It’s purpose is to house missioniaries in transit. More sweet people!
Walking the street, we are approached by many beggars. Reminds me of Haiti. Carol says there aren’t as many here as there were in Haiti though. Pray that we would not be weary of demands. God loves these people, and we are His hands and feet here.
We are grateful for this internet cafe, just a few feet from our hotel. I hope to find another in our next location. We are traveling this afternoon.
Thank you again for your prayers, and financial support. The team here is somewhat historic, as all of the students, children and staff are on outreach. May we bring glory to our Father in all our activities.
Blessings to you!
Fred and Carol
