WeLykins Update ~ June 23rd, 2009
Dear praying friends,
Our Crossroads Discipleship Training School, (CDTS), started the 8th of June. We have 10 students, two couples, one single mom, two single women, two married men (with wives who’ve completed their CDTS) and a single man. One couple from New Zealand, one woman from Canada, and the rest Americans. They seem like a committed group of folks! I think it’s going to be a great school.
Carol and I are leading up the children’s program, “Children of Destiny.” (COD) The single mom brought her two children, Asher 13 and Annabella, 11. They are delightful children, no attitude issues so far. Additionally we have two staff children, Yenna 13 and Jimin 11. They are a sister and brother, from South Korea. Since we are leading the COD, our time with the CDTS students is limited to the first hour of the day in worship and prayer. But we get to visit over lunch and dinner, and are looking forward to some social time in the evening. ( After we catch our breath!)
Carol has been doing some extra sewing for some of our fellow YWAMers here. She is sewing vests for an upcoming wedding.
Speaking of weddings, our daughter Jaime is getting married the 26th of this month. We will be flying to Haines, Alaska for the wedding. Praise the Lord and thanks to our generous teammates our air tickets are purchased AND paid for! We will drive to Seattle, see Carol’s new grand niece and nephew, fly to Juneau, then the ferry to Haines. We will leave after work on Wednesday the 24th, and return to Salem on Sunday the 28th.
The week before our CDTS started I assisted in our dining room remodel, worked on a leaky roof in one of the staff houses, helped a couple move, and brainstormed with Carol, planning the activities for the upcoming COD.
Aside from our participation in the school, we lead worship for a home group on Thursday evenings, and attended a prayer meeting downtown, “Hands around the park” with our local church. This week we started house sitting for a couple who went to China for a month. Life is busy, but good. I am meditating on “Entering into His rest.”
Please pray for our students in the CDTS and COD. We like to say that they get out of the school in proportion to what they put in. Let’s pray that they would not settle for any less than God’s best.
Also, Carol and I would appreciate prayers for our travel to Jaime and Matt’s wedding.
Praise God for His unending love!
Fred and Carol
