WeLykins Update – August 19th, 2009

Dear praying friends,

Outreach is just 2 weeks away! Wow, this summer has gone fast!

Carol and I were praying about this fall’s outreach and feel that I am to go to Tepic, Mexico, but she is to remain here and work with the English Language and Culture “ELC” program. This is especially challenging for us, as we have never be separated for 8 weeks! When I told her that God woke me with the word “Carol is not to go on this outreach” she told me that she had not been desiring to go, but didn’t know how to tell me. Interesting. This is not how I planned this fall! Knowing that military families do it all the time makes it only a little easier to bear.

So, she will remain in Salem, and I will go to Tepic, Mexico with our Crossroads (CDTS) team.

Our students are in varying stages of readiness. About half have all their money together, and three need a total of about #8,000. One is a single mother, and the other couple is from Australia. We have seen God solve this dilemma many times, so, please join us in praying in the funds.

For the first time I don’t have to send out a “help” letter for us. Our increase in support this spring has brought our bank balance to the place where we can write a check for the full amount on the first of September. Praise God! and Thank you for praying and giving!

We have taken the Chidren of Destiny (COD) camping, swimming, to the zoo,
and biking. Once a week we plan an outing for them, so in the midst of our school we celebrate summer as well! It’s been good.

Please join us in praying:
For safe travel (we’ll be driving 2,500 miles to Tepic.)
Fruitful ministry in Tepic and along the way!
Unity among our team mates.
Full funding for those whose funds have yet to come it.
God’s peace and protection on Carol and I as we are apart for September and October.

Thank you so much for your continued prayers and friendship! We could not serve in this capacity without YOU!

The next report will be from Tepic, Mexico! Praise God!

With passionate love!
Fred and Carol
